Looking to class up your evening smoke sesh? The New York City Cannabis Film Festival invites you for a Saturday evening on Sep 26 at the Wythe to "elevate cannabis culture." That's right, this fest isn't focused on silly stoner flicks, but rather short films divided into three categories—animated, trippy and comedy—and a full-length documentary on Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, pioneer of THC.
Festival director and media coordinator of High NY Tim Mattson told the Village Voice "[The film festival] basically says, ‘Hey, we’re here and we’re here in New York, we’re pushing for this and you can too, and be part of this great cultural movement." Totally, dude. But Mattson goes on to say, "One thing you wanna be clear on, you can’t come here smoking, can’t come in here bringing joints. It’s not going to be allowed yet. We’re waiting on legalization to make that happen.” Bummer, bro.
Catch a viewing at 4:20pm or 7:10pm for $20. And, of course, you'll also be able to buy tons of weed products and merchandise (but not the bud itself) while you're there. We assume there will still be munchies to be had.
