The Coziness Institute of AmericaTM has just proclaimed March 14, 2016, the coziest day in New York City history. They're currently on their way from Washington, D.C., with the world's largest blankie to drape over all of us as a token of congratulations.

Okay, all of that is made up, but what is true is that today is pretty effing cozy. You probably already knew that it's Pi Day and have been, accordingly, eating ALL THE PIES. But did you know that it's also (apparently) National Napping Day, a completely-made-up-but-who-cares-it's-awesome holiday to help all of us recover from the havoc that Daylight Savings wreaks. (Wrecked? I don't know. I'm sleepy.)

If you live in New York, you've also probably noticed that today's weather is kind of the worst. But the worst in a way that is also the best (i.e. gray, gloomy, glum and lots of other words that start with "g"). When you have to commute in this weather, it's the worst (soggy jeans, crowded trains with various people's umbrella spokes poking you in terrible places). But when you, say, just have to eat a pie (or 12) and then TAKE A MOTHEREFFING NAP, well, this weather is the cat's pajamas.

So enjoy it, New York. And if you want to up the coziness factor even more, some suggestions below. (Are you still with me? You're all asleep, aren't you.)

Go to Brooklyn's coziest bar, Brooklyn Inn. Have a pint. Then eat some pie and take a nap.

Grab a delicious mug of coffee or tea at one of the cities best coffeeshops, then eat some pie and take a nap.

See a movie at the LES' new indie theater, Metrograph. Afterward, why not eat some pie and take a nap?

Sidle up with a book! What better way to relax than sitting on the floor of a bookstore and reading? When you're finished, consider eating some pie and taking a nap
