Desperate to escape the concrete jungles of the city and return to nature but lack the time/financial means/patience to do actually do so? Well, then the Garment District Alliance has got your back (sort of) by installing a two-block stretch of fake grass between 39th and 40th Streets to "humanize" the pedestrian plaza. It's got things like lemonade, an "art exhibit" and...well, the grass, which we already mentioned.
It's a true historic first for the local astroturf community as it's the first time the city has ever covered a pedestrian plaza with the grass of any kind. Now, when you think of the Garment District, you won't just think of knock-off diamonds and designer duds, but also faux nature!
