NYC's giant outdoor party is still swingin'

Looking to hit up one of the best summer parties in NYC this weekend? It looks like you're in luck: Lincoln Center's annual Midsummer Night Swing came roaring back to Damrosch Park on June 21 for three weeks of Big Band bonanzas nearly every night.

Now in its 28th year, the outdoor swing dancing festival runs Tuesday through Saturday between June 21 and July 9. Each night, guests take to the floor at 6pm for freestyle dancing to a DJ set, followed by a 45 minute dance class at 6:30pm (certainly a good time for a stretch) before live acts dominate the stage at 7:30pm. Notable performers from the past week have included ballroom diva Fleur Seule, swing and blues crooner Catherine Russell Septet and Son Cubano band Septet Santiaguero.

Expect to see hundreds of couples and singles jiving, jumping and twirling around the floor over the next ten days, and make sure to hit up Saturday's edition, which features rock & roll from the Black Rock Coalition, followed by a 90 minute silent disco with DJs Connie T. Empress, Monica Sharp and Gaylord Fields.

Tickets are $17 for each night, including classes, and you can buy season passes at the Midsummer Night Swing site. To learn more about the daily dance party, check out our guide to Midsummer Night Swing and full lineup of performers at Midsummer Night Swing.
