Celebrate this Labor Day weekend by stocking up on bread and milk and battening down the hatches. The National Hurricane Center has announced that Tropical Storm Hermine, not to be confused with Harry Potter’s BFF, will hit NYC with crummy weather right as you’re about to head out the door to the beach on Sunday.

Right now, the storm is trashing Florida with winds of 65 mph, and the projected path has it heading along the Carolinas and arriving in the city for a day of rain and rough surf on Sunday. The official Hazardous Weather Outlook statement predicts rip currents at some Long Island beaches tonight, then coastal flooding, heavy rain and strong winds are possible from Saturday through Tuesday.

There’s a chance it could be sunny and beautiful on Monday, just in time to do something besides drinking dark and stormys and wishing you were at the beach.
