Following a similar trajectory of many of the parentally subsidized NYU students that pack its bars every weekend, sweaty East Village mainstay Lit Lounge will soon be moving from its Second Avenue digs to a brand-new location in Bushwick. Apparently they found a great deal at the McKibbin Lofts.
The East Village club has seen countless late late-night parties, drunk celebrity sightings and black-clad girls in chokers being judgmental over the course of its 14-year history. Club Planet reports that its proprietors Erik Foss and David Schwartz are hoping to capitalize on the ever-escalating shift of NYC’s club culture to the Bushwick/Greenpoint/Williamsburg area with the new space, which will feature two rooms and a DJ booth in a basement space.
The dates haven’t been finalized, but the East Village location will shut its doors for good about two months from now, with the Bushwick location opening “in the next week or in 3 months.” The new club space at 248 McKibbin St. will also be connected to a coffee and pastry shop so you can get cracking on those “the white powder in the bathroom is actually just flour” jokes now.
