A London-based consultant for Tableau Software has created some pretty fascinating data visualizations of New York City taxi rides.
The map shows color-coded dots that correspond to where taxi riders are picked up and where they’re dropped off. You can also organize the data by time of the day to see where people are traveling when.
On the far right side of the page, you can see all the trips from the Empire State Building and from JFK airport, and how far those riders are traveling. Turns out, most aren’t going that far. 96% of taxi rides last 30 minutes or less.
