Just as fall brought us a glimpse of light out of the endless tunnel that was this soupy, hot as balls summer, prepare yourself for torrential downpours and a possible hurricane.
The rain starts today and won't let up till at least Tuesday, and we're expected to get up to 12 inches, an accumulation that is usually spread out over a couple of months rather than days. And on top of that sopping news, Hurricane Joaquin is waiting just off the shoreline to possibly come wreck NYC—that's right, this is the rain BEFORE the storm, called a "predecessor rain event," according to Slate.
Tropical Storm Joaquin is currently on his way to the Bahamas, weather.com says, and depending on his mood (and trajectory) he could arrive in NYC later this week in full-blown hurricane mode. Or, it could just blow by and not bother us! Only Pizza Rat knows what's in store! Either way, we'll all be very wet this week, so hold on tight to your umbrella and rain boots and be on the lookout for flooding on Thursday and beyond.
Meanwhile, check out these gorgeous pictures of NYC in the rain and look forward to far less sweaty days.
