Eataly is, finally, getting a New York sibling—housed on the third floor of 4 World Trade, the 40,000-square-foot complex comprised of six eateries will open on Thursday, August 11 at noon, a symbol of the still-occurring regrowth process of the downtown area. Every Eataly has its theme and this one's is bread, housing a massive in-house bakery, a fresh-pasta counter and a counter dedicated to the Italian flatbread known as piadina.

Beyond the bread, the mega market is fitted with a wine bar, a fresh juice and smoothie station, and counters for whole fish, cheese (more than 1,300 varieties) and meat (exclusively Italian and American selections). Among the eateries are a "free university" teaching daily drop-in classes; the upscale Osteria Della Pace, offering southern Italian cuisine and cocktails; and four casual restaurants, each with a different focus: Orto e Mare ("the garden and the sea"), Il Pesce (fresh seafood), La Piazza (shareable meat-and-cheese platters and raw bar items) and La Pizza & La Pasta (pretty obviously, no?).
