Here's our first taste of Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Netflix series, The Get Down

Sometimes he's a guilty pleasure, but we'll always make room for Aussie director Baz Luhrmann, the mad genius behind Leo DiCaprio's The Great Gatsby, Romeo + Juliet and a bunch of other nutty stuff. The episodic nature of a TV series may suit this filmmaker perfectly, which is why we're excited for The Get Down, Luhrmann's forthcoming disco-and-rap fantasia set in the Bronx of the 1970s. The trailer below definitely brings the wide collars and early rap music. Right now, the debut date is simply 2016—expect more information soon.
