The Met Gala wasn't last night's only star-studded spectacle—the food-world glitterati was out in full force at the annual James Beard Awards, held for the first time in Chicago after 25 straight years here in New York. Despite the location move, New Yorkers still made a strong showing at the awards: Bâtard nabbed Best New Restaurant, Mark Ladner of Del Posto scored Best Chef: NYC and Gramercy Tavern's Michael Anthony took Outstanding Chef overall.

Two local dough experts, Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery and Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar fame were also deservedly honored, for Outstanding Baker and Outstanding Pastry Chef, respectively. And if that's not impressive enough, New Yorkers took up two of five slots in the Who's Who of Food & Beverage in America winners, with molecular-gastronomy pioneer Wylie Dufresne (Alder) and cocktail king Dale DeGroff recognized. Repping old-school New York, 74-year-old West Village paella staple Sevilla was dubbed one of America's Classics by the foundation.
