Here are New York's 2016 James Beard Award winners

While tonight's Met Gala captivated the fashion glitterati, the food world was fixated on another red-carpet affair: the 2016 James Beard Awards, which was held this year at Chicago's Lyric Opera House. Even though "the Oscars of food" was moved from its usual New York setting to the Windy City for the second year, NYC made a strong showing amongst this year's James Beard Award nominees and came out on top in a number of categories, including being singled out for bar program, its up-and-coming chefs and restaurant design (a New York tie!).
