We already know plenty of New Yorkers are looking for ways to get socially and politically active, but why not be rewarded for all that do-gooding? Global Citizen Festival is a bit different than NYC's other amazing music festivals in that you can forego massive ticket prices by helping people around the world. Each year a certain amount of passes to the Central Park concert are made available to everyday people who complete "action journeys." Those include signing petitions, contacting leaders and raising awareness on social media to end poverty, climate change, gender inequality and improve public health. Don't know if it's worth it? Wait until you hear this year's line-up.

For the sixth annual festival, Global Citizen is pulling out all the stops. Today the fest announces the headliners for its Saturday, September 23 event: Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers, The Chainsmokers and living legend Stevie Wonder. While the full roster of special guests has not fully been announced, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, Andra Day and Alessia Cara will all be there performing as well.

Global Citizen's campaigns touch on a wide array of topics, including efforts to convince large bottled-water companies to donate a percentage of their proceeds to the Global Investment Fund for water and protecting critical funds in the U.S. budget for foreign aid assistance.
