Get acquainted with the genius work of this year’s New York-based MacArthur Foundation Grant winners

The MacArthur Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants in the country. The Fellows Program—started by John and Catherine MacArthur in 1981—awards $625,000 to people excelling in their creative and intellectual fields. Of the twenty-four 2015 MacArthur Fellows announced today, nine are based in New York. From live performances to the written word, here are a few ways that you can get more acquainted with some of their work.

1. Nicole Eisenman — See works by the NYC-based painter in the video profile below.

2. Michelle Dorrance — The tap dancer and choreographer teaches classes at Broadway Dance Center and also founded Dorrance Dance.

3. Ben Lerner — The writer is currently a professor at Brooklyn College and has published the poetry collections The Lichtenberg Figures (2004), Angle of Yaw (2006) and Mean Free Path (2010).
