This week New Yorkers are breaking out their shorts and sandals for the first time since November, because it's 55 degrees out and for us that's practically scorching (hey, we'll even take 45). Our joy can't be contained, so let's spread it around at these five ways to celebrate spring right now, because who wants to wait until March 20? And don't forget to get excited about the rest of the amazing spring events awaiting us right around the corner.

-Take time to smell the flowers at The Orchid Show (through April 19). The New York Botanical Garden welcomes you to a warm oasis where flowers grow from the ceiling in this year's theme, Chandeliers.

-Run outdoors at the Girls Prep Ultimate Pi Day 5K (Sat 14). Sign up for this Roosevelt Island run to support STEM-focused curriculum by running 3.14 miles on 3/14 and starting at 9:26:53am, the next several numbers in the sequence after 3.1415. And don't worry, you can sign up day of.

-Hit the rooftop at Berry Park. Look out over the East River and ponder your future in crop tops while sipping alcoholic lemonade and noshing on a pulled pork sandwich.

-Hit the fancier rooftop at Empire Hotel. Spread out over 8,000 square feet way up on the 12th floor with DJs, live jazz and a retractable glass roof.

-Roam the streets at the St. Patrick's Day Parade (Tues 17). There's a lot of day drinking and outdoor festivals in our near future, so we might as well start now.
