In the words of the groundbreaking Broadway musical RENT, “How do you measure a year in the life?”

In sunsets? Laughter? Overwhelmingly popular Instagrams?

If it’s the latter, then New York has had a pretty good year. In their recently-released annual Year in Review report, the company highlighted a number of statistics from the images their approximately 500 million global users have uploaded over the last year.

Among those findings were the most Instagrammed locations of 2016. While Disney Theme Parks and Universal Studios Theme Parks managed to take the top two positions on that list, New York still made a very impressive showing.

Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Garden, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Empire State Building all managed to crack the top 20 Instagrammed locations in the entire world. That's a lot of selfies in front of the Temple of Dendur.
