If you’ve spent any time in North Brooklyn over the last few months, you’ve definitely noticed the William Vale hotel slowly rising about the neighborhood’s skyline. Located right next to McCarren Park, the building is pretty hard to miss.

The hotel, which officially opens later this month, will eventually contain Leuca, a Southern Italian restaurant from Andrew Carmellini (The Dutch, Bar Primi) as well as Westlight, a rooftop bar with sweeping views of New York City on the 22nd floor.

But during these sweaty days of August, probably the most exciting feature of the new hotel is a 60-foot outdoor pool, the longest hotel pool in New York City. Last night, the pool and its adjoining terrace held its first-ever event, a fundraiser for + POOL, a floating pool that’s currently in development. (It was a pool-focused evening.)

"We're launching the next phase this fall which will be a two-year design phase," said + Pool Co-Founder Archie Lee Coates IV during the party. "We've spent the last year studying 10 potential site on the waterfront."

The chosen location for the floating pool is expected to be announced next month.

Check out photos of the Vale Pool and the 5,000 sq. ft. open-air terrace below. Not only is it as big as advertised, buy you definitely can’t beat the views.
