The newest addition to lineup of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Eighty-one sand trucks from the Department of Sanitation.

The trucks are a form of extra security (not a competition with the new Felix the Cat). They come after ISIS called the parade “an excellent target” in its magazine, but the NYPD believes the trucks will make the parade impenetrable and safe from attacks like the one in Nice, France, earlier this year. The NYPD also points out that security has been high for the past several years, as well, which have thankfully occurred without incident.

There was also added security at this year’s Gay Pride March, which went off without a hitch in NYC. And the NYPD’s next project after the parade is figuring out the long-term solution to the current shutdown of 57th Street at Fifth Avenue.
