Let’s talk about what everyone else in the U.S. is posting all over social media: Stevie Nicks is doing a U.S. solo tour. Okay—that’s not necessarily what we’re referring to right now (although it is BIG news).

What we’re talking about is the 2016 Presidential election, people. We’re not here to nudge you to place a ballot come November (but, ohmigod, please vote!).

However, to make your life as an American citizen and New York resident somewhat easier, here’s everything you need to know about how to vote in NYC, from where the polls are located and how to register. If you wanted to vote for the Primary but aren’t already registered, bad news. You’re too late. But you still have time to get your paperwork in for the general election!

How do I register to vote in NYC?
Create an account at dmv.nyc.gov. You’ll need your New York driver’s license, permit or some other form of non-driver ID. Then all you have to do is sign in, select the “Register to Vote” tab and then fill out the form. The good ‘ol DMV will forward your form to the county board of elections for approval.

How can I check if I’m already registered to vote in NYC?
You can easily check if you are registered to vote here. Just go to voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us.

When are the Primary Elections in NYC?
Primary elections are September 13, 2016. Polls are open from 6am to 9pm. 

When can I vote for the 2016 election in NYC?
Election day is November 8, 2016. Polls will be open from 6am to 9pm. Even if you’re still on line at 9pm, your vote counts!

Where do I go to vote for the 2016 election in NYC?
You must vote at your designated poll spite based on your New York address. You can find your poll site by entering your address here.

What is the deadline for registering to vote in NYC?
Applications must be postmarked no later than October 14 and received by the board of elections by October 19.

How do I register for an absentee ballot in NYC?
To vote as an absentee, you must complete this form, and mail your application to your county board by November 1, 2016. The last day to apply for an in-person absentee ballot is November 7, 2016.

When must I submit my absentee ballot?
All absentee ballots must be mailed by November 7, 2016.
