This Sunday, David Bowie is king, alter egos are second nature and androgynous fashion reigns supreme. How is this, you ask? Because the annual BowieBall: The Ultimate Glam Rock Revolution is back for its eighth year! David Bowie fans and brilliant performers, will gather at Le Poisson Rouge for BowieBall, an annual celebration of the weirdly wonderful career of the glam-rock British pop icon.
Each year, since 2006, creator Deryck Todd rallies some of the best performers in NYC to perform for charity in honor of David "Ziggy Stardust" Bowie's illustrious career. Along with the live performances, there'll be deejay sets by Frankie Sharp and Justine D of Motherf*cker, so you can dance like no one's watching. This year the party raises funds for the volunteer food drive organization, God's Love We Deliver, and all sorts of fantastically flamboyant guests will take the stage like Lena Hall, the Tony-winning actress who originated the character of Nicola in Kinky Boots, as well as Michael Wartella of Wicked and fashion designer and musician Keanan Duffty. You'll be saying Oh! You Pretty Things with some of the best drag queens in the biz, including Alotta McGriddles, who easily wins for best name ever.
Admission costs $25 at the door, though if you decide to rock your best David Bowie (or Ziggy Stardust!) costume, you get $5 off. Make sure to R.S.V.P. 'cause this night will get wild and crowded. The Bowie extravaganza begins at 9pm and ends when the sun comes up.
