Sometimes you can find wisdom in the most unexpected of places.

Videographer Brian Hanley came across a wild man in Union Square Park this week, dressed in a rainbow leotard and dancing around a sign called “Love.” The man turned out to be performance artist and self-professed “clown,” Matthew Silver, who explained to Hanley what exactly he was trying to communicate with his energetic public display.

“Love. That’s it. That’s all there is, that’s the message,” Silver tells Hanley in the video. “The best anyone can do in life is inspire love… If we have compassion, we’ll see how this person goes through the same thing you go through… This is the thing that brings us together, so we have to glorify love.”

Watch the video below if you need an inspirational pick-up for the end of the workweek.
