Coney Island to host New Year’s Eve party with Parachute Jump ball drop and fireworks

For the first time ever, Coney Island is throwing an end-of-the-year extravaganza designed to rival the world-famous ball drop on 42nd Street. The seaside destination’s big night will feature live music, fire-spitting performers from the Coney Island Sideshow, fireworks at midnight and a simulated LED ball drop from the iconic Parachute Jump.

The Alliance for Coney Island's Executive Director, Johanna Zaki, laid out the biggest reason for attending the NYE event succinctly while speaking with the Daily News: “You should definitely come to Coney Island. For one, we have fireworks."

And, for better of for worse, they don’t have Ryan Seacrest.
