This data expert has New York pizza down to a science.
Walker Harrison has published a number of graphs on perplex.city that prove, once and for all, that you’re never that far from a good pizza place in New York.
Using data from Yelp, Harrison found approximately 1,000 pizza places between the coordinates 40,57, -74.05 and 40,84, -73.90, which includes parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Jersey City.
He then cut up that area into 40,000 locations and color-coded how many pizza places were within a thousand feet of each point. As you can imagine that map was pretty crowded. After color- coordinating the points based on the ratings of pizza joints, it’s clear that you really are never too far from a good slice in New York.
Appropriately enough, the final chart also looks like a giant pizza. Or maybe that’s just us.
