Clueless musical in the works

Alicia Silverstone’s Cher was famously called “a virgin who can’t drive” in the iconic ‘90s teen classic Clueless. Here’s hoping she can sing.

The film’s original writer and director Amy Heckerling confirmed in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” yesterday, that a Clueless musical is currently in the works. Heckerling also revealed that the show will be directed by Kristin Hanggi, the woman behind the hit Broadway production of Rock of Ages from 2009 to 2015. 

“I’ve written what they call ‘the book’ and it’s a jukebox musical,” Heckerling told the show. Who knows what ‘90s classics they’ll draw on for the show’s score. Maybe we’ll be seeing a jazzy production of “Kids in America” in Bryant Park a few summers from now?
