For 30 days this year, Ichabod Crane will be eating his heart out as the Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson becomes illuminated by the radiant orange glow of over 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins at the annual Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze. Artists from the Historic Hudson valley team have been constructing prodigious pumpkin creations for months, including pumpkin dinosaurs, trains and sea serpents, an orange planetarium and meticulously carved Dracula, Frankenstein and Mummy jack o' lanterns. The Hudson Valley team has thought of everything this time, adding in synchronized lighting and a rich score by The Howard Stern Show's Richard Christy.

Don't waste too much time contemplating the one-to-two hour schlepp to Sleepy Hollow: though the Blaze runs through mid-November, most nights are already sold out, so you better get a move on your tickets.
