They may not be casting shadows over Central Park or replacing beloved city landmarks, but two recently announced luxury condo developments are located in some pretty unfortunate locations, nonetheless.
The first, from SOMA Architects, will be soaring above the lot that was originally planned to house a Muslim Community Center. Instead of that 15-story cultural and educational center, we’ll now be getting a 665-feet high luxury condo! Yay, more luxury condos!

The second tower, located on the Manhattan side of the Manhattan Bridge, is a 72-story behemoth awkwardly situated in the middle of Chinatown and the Lower East Side. Community protesters worry that “One Manhattan Square" will irreparably change the neighborhood, and are currently protesting the construction. As you can see from the rendering below, the tower is definitely a pretty jarring sight.
