Bed-Stuy just got a bar that would make Bill Nye proud. Opening on New Year's Eve, Khemistry Bar imitates a science lab with apothecary bottles full of booze, a concrete-topped bar and classroom-style chairs and lab stools.
The gastropub's food docket includes locally sourced grub from Brooklyn food co-ops and area greenmarkets like lemon-thyme roast chicken and orange-zested pork chops courtesy of chef-owner Shana Cooper-Silas. Signature cocktails, made with house-made bitters and sodas, are twists on the classics and named for Cooper-Silas's friends. Open from 10am–midnight Tuesday through Sunday for both brunch and dinner, the pub boasts a 3,000-square-foot backyard dubbed The Lab, which will debut this spring with a beer garden and its own outdoor kitchen. 216 Malcolm X Blvd between Jefferson and Putnam Aves, Bed Stuy, Brooklyn (347-715-6584, khemistrybar.com)
