New York's food-hall scene is increasing at Mach Five speed and it doesn't look like the momentum's slowing anytime soon. The City Point development on Dekalb Avenue announced that their Downtown Brooklyn housing-and-retail site will also feature a 26,000-square-foot food court dubbed Dekalb Market Hall in the building's basement, slated for 2016.
Of the 35 to 55 food vendors that the space will reportedly hold, the hall has already secured big-deal names like the legendary Arepa Lady, Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue, fried-pizza slinger Forcella and—and this one's a doozy of a rumor—Katz's Delicatessen. The alleged food-hall location will mark the first expansion for the 127-year-old Lower East Side icon.
Other food options include a crepe counter, a pierogi bar and a Steve's Ice Cream stall. And if that's not enough, the development will also feature an NYC outpost of Austin-based movie-theater chain Alamo Drafthouse. Consider us moving in.
