Black Seed Bagels, the Nolita bagel shop from Noah Bernamoff (Mile End) and Matt Kliegman (the Smile), will be adding an East Village outpost to its schmear empire. Taking over the former De Robertis Pasticceria and Caffee space, Barnamoff and Kliegman intend to honor the iconic Italian bakery by working with the De Robertis family to preserve the design and decor of the original space, including the ornate tile floors, hand-cut tile walls and pressed tin ceiling. Slated to open sometime this spring, the new shop will join the Elizabeth street flagship in production to supply nearby restaurants and even Whole Foods with hand-rolled and poached bagels. Plus, there'll be Stumptown coffee and fresh-squeezed juices. 176 First Ave at 11th St (blackseedbagels.com)

Uptown, a second New York location of the Sichuan hit Han Dynasty will be moving into a spot on 85th Street near Broadway. The ever-popular menu, which made our list of the city's best cheap eats, will remain unchanged; however owner Han Chiang is planning to operate a full bar—an upgrade from the East Village original, which serves beer and wine only. Expect to be ordering dan dan noodles and chili-oil wontons and dry pepper chicken wings by early May. 215 W 85th St between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave (handyansty.net
