In this week’s news about New Yorkers drinking even more than usual, bar cars are officially returning to Metro-North trains on the New Haven line. It was confirmed today by Connecticut governor Dannel P. Malloy, who is adding a total of 60 new trains with 10 new bar cars, turning your commute home into your new favorite place for happy hours.
The last time time bar cars ran on the Metro-North line was in 2014, when patrons could order a beer or mixed cocktail in the café cars and handy cupholders were attached to subway poles. Now you can once again drink until you forget how dirty public transportation is.
