Searching for a unique way to relax this summer? A trip to Governors Island—a gorgeous, car-free oasis in Upper New York Bay—should do the trick, especially since it’s one of the most peaceful places in New York. (Er, when there’s not a music festival or Jazz Age Lawn Party happening.)
The island is about to become an even more perfect spot for folks in-need of rejuvenation come Memorial Day Weekend. Well, as long as you’re into ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response).
For three days, an immersive ASMR spa is taking over one of the historic houses on Governors Island. The experience, dubbed “Whisperlodge,” allows guests to enjoy a series of relaxing treatments centered around that tingling sensation you get when someone whispers in your ear.
Co-creators Andrew Hoepfner and Melinda Lauw are calling the experience a “part-therapy, part-immersive-theater journey,” and judging by the video below, it’s not all about sound. (We hope you like getting your hair brushed!) All we know is during these stressful times, we’ll try anything to unwind!
