A popular pop-up pool is popping up once again.

Brooklyn families successfully petitioned the agency overseeing Brooklyn Bridge Park to allow The Pop-Up Pool to return to the park this summer. (The pool's shallow depth and swimming lessons make it very popular with families.) As a result of the pool’s small size, its capacity is somewhat limited. At a mere 30 by 50 feet and 3.5 feet deep, only 60 swimmers are allowed at a time and only for 45-minute sessions. It will be open daily from 10am until 6pm.

Even though the pool has yet to open this year, a petition has already been created to get the pool back for the 2018 summer and beyond. It states:

"There are too few pools in Brooklyn and the loss of this pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park would be a significant loss to the community. We want to ensure that the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation and our elected officials understand the importance of this pool to families across Brooklyn. We are a group of parents who highly value this pool and the experiences it provides for our community-- to cool off, provide active recreation, promote water safety and have fun. The pool is easily accessible and well-utilized by many neighborhoods across Brooklyn."

The pool is set to re-open on June 29, the same day that outdoor pools across the city open.
