A giant free-fall amusement park ride could land on top of Penn Station

This new proposal hopes to turn Penn Station into an awesome amusement-park-skyscraper hybrid. (And you thought the Shake Shack coming to Penn Station was exciting.) The proposal comes from Brooklyn Capitol Partners, which wants to plop an amusement park ride on top of Madison Square Garden.

The tower would be the world’s tallest free-fall ride at 1,200 feet high, making it only slightly less terrifying than Coney Island’s new space-themed ride, and building it would cost $637 million (that’s all). Rides would be $35 a person for the 100-mile-per-hour ride. If it does get built, it will make riding the subway even worse by comparison, something we hadn’t thought was possible. Still, anything that brings amusement parks near NYC into our actual city counts as awesome.
