A first look at the renovated Chumley’s

Fans of the iconic West Village speakeasy, Chumley's, have been patiently awaiting the newly renovated bar for nearly a decade now, and it's finally happening in late September 2016. The literary haunt has faced setback after setback following that initial wall collapse in 2007, with opposition from its neighborhood and a long spate of delays until Sushi Nakazawa restaurateur Alessandro Borgognone took the wheel earlier this year, speeding things along.

See below for your first look at the fresh space, painstakingly decorated to retain the feel of the original 1922-born pub, with framed book jackets from old regulars like Ernest Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds gracing the walls:
