On the hunt for things to do in September? One of the oldest and largest street festivals in NYC returns on September 24, covering 10 blocks of Brooklyn (specifically Atlantic Avenue) with food vendors, performance tents and more.
If you haven’t guessed by the aforementioned clues, we’re talking about the mac daddy of street fairs: Atlantic Antic™! Awesome merchandise, entertainment and mouthwatering bites aren’t the only draw. For the the first time ever, the fete is hosting the 14th annual Chef One Dumpling Eat Contest.
Registration for the competition is still open for all you dumpling-eating fiends, and there’s a separate category for men and women. If you’re confident that you can shovel a bunch of meat (or veggie?) pockets in your piehole within two minutes flat, then fill out the registration form here. FYI: There is a $20 fee, but you get a free T-shirt!
The prize money is nothing to sneeze at either. The first place winner receives $2,000, second place gains $1,000 and third place leaves with five Benjamins. There are only 24 male and female spots, so you better act fast!
And you can start training for the main event by eating your way through this list of the best dumplings in NYC. Pace yourself.
