Three hundred tons of trucked-in sand approximate an urban seashore at this location of WTB. Family-friendly trappings like minigolf can make for an awkward scene during busy afternoons, with hipsters queued up while grade-schoolers monopolize the games. But the grown-ups do have cocktails (sangria, daiquiris) and summery beers. Deejayed weekend parties are meant to draw a hipper crowd, but the cover charges seem to deter locals. Still, the beach’s few missteps don’t soil the singular experience of sipping a drink at the river’s edge.
