This brand new Slope Park spot was, until relatively recently, Sir D’s Lounge and Tea Room. Patrons of the previous location might not recognize it now – the new owners have given it a new lick of paint, added a chunky new kitchen and extended the bar. And what does that mean? A family-friendly spot by day (puppet shows for the kids should be a draw) and what looks like a very cool bar and live events hub in the evening, with open mic nights, comedy shows and Monday jazz sessions.
And with that new kitchen they're looking to do a lot of food, too. The menu goes big on traditional American and Jamaican dishes (think oxtail mac ‘n’ cheese and jerk chicken) but there'll also be a few vegan and gluten-free options.
Keep an eye out for exhibitions by local artists, too.
