If the beer nerd and the grape snob seem like star-crossed lovers, it’s probably because they’ve never shared a round at this romantic Soho drinkery. A chalkboard menu, illuminated by votive candles, changes frequently, but you can always count on finding a smart, international collection of 30 wines by the glass. More robust is the beer lineup, featuring a thorough selection of mainly Belgian, German and American craft bottles (Butte Creek, La Chouffe, Orval) and 12 well-curated domestic and European taps—the crisp, refreshing Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier was a highlight. The tunes are as thoughtful as the tipples—classic and mainstream rock (Radiohead, Pink Floyd) played at the perfect volume to keep conversations close and intimate.
