Owner Michael Connolly spent 25 years as a wine and spirits dealer before opening his popular Carroll Gardens eatery, Chestnut, five years ago. So it
makes sense that he would unveil this companion bar next door. You’ll find well-curated spirits such as genever—the Netherlands’ whiskeylike equivalent of dry gin—in his negroni, and Picon, a rare brand of French bitters, in the Brooklyn (a rye-based cocktail). Small plates from chef Daniel Eardley include “cheese on horseback” (Swiss tête de moine cheese balanced on candied pecans) and sardine toasts with grapes and olives. They should go nicely with the neat wine list, which features esoteric by-the-glass selections.
