Old Saint Nick is slinging a different kind of cheer this holiday season: A Santa-inspired pop-up bar is moving into East Village beer-and-shot joint Boilermaker through Christmas Eve, joining the similarly minded Miracle on Ninth Street’s takeover of nearby Mace. But here, there’s a twist: Drinks man Sam Gauthier adds an island splash to the yuletide motif, with cheeky tropical sips like a Toboggan Nog (Jamaican rum, house-made pumpkin spice eggnog) and the eponymous, bourbon-charged Sippin’ Santa, with crème de cacao, crème de menthe, egg white, nutmeg and wormwood bitters. The bar’s namesake pint-and-shot combo also gets the surf-meets-Santa tweak: A Kris Kringle pairs Lagunitas Pils with vanilla-finished Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon, while a Naughty & Nice matches Southern Tier’s Pumking with grassy Brazilian Avuá Cachaça Amburana.
