Tucked inside the Gramercy Park Hotel, Rose Bar offers a luxurious alternative to other crowded cocktail bars. Modern artworks from the likes of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Damien Hirst line the walls, and the solid walnut bar and hand-carved limestone fireplace lend a high-society feel to the surroundings. The drink menu fits the theme, offering twelve twists on the classic martini, such as the Diamonds and Pearls with vodka, lillet blanc, blackberries and coconut ($19). Other cocktails include a berry bellini ($20) and lavender-cucumber gin fizz ($19). If you’re feeling peckish, order some risotto bites ($9), oysters on the half-shell ($19) or bacon and arugula sliders ($12). Rose Bar also hosts live music nights called Rose Bar Sessions, and they’ve featured artists such as Axl Rose, Dave Navarro, Bleachers and BØRNS. The bar accepts limited reservations until 9pm, but after that, entry is by invitation only.
