The rooftop bar perched atop Downtown Brooklyn’s Aloft Hotel has a definite Asian influence, with an indoor rock garden, spiky bonsai trees and minimalist aesthetic. The theme extends to the drinks menu, which includes a selection of Eastern beers like Singapore’s Tiger ($7), Japan’s Kirin Ichiban ($7) and China’s Lucky Buddha ($8). Signature cocktails include the Forbidden Fruit with Hennessey, Asian pear, maple syrup and lemon ($14) and the Komodo Dragon, a concoction of Ciroc coconut, plum wine and lemon that is poured over cotton candy as you watch ($14). The bar also offers a full dinner menu. Think appetizers like a spicy tuna pizza ($16) and yuzu shrimp ceviche ($12) and specialty sushi rolls like the Mermaid roll with shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber topped with more shrimp, caviar, eel sauce and spicy mayo ($14). Larger plates include vegetable jap chae ($16), jumbo blue crab fried rice ($19) and a Kobe beef burger topped with gochujang barbecue sauce, kimchi slaw, white truffle oil and sprouts ($16).
