Belly dancers, flickering flames, hanging tapestries—Moroccan flourishes sure are fun. On the heels of other North African hot spots—Moomia, Casablanca Tea Room and Nomad—comes this bilevel Moroccan lounge, which has taken over the space that formerly housed the Bowery club Mission. Guests sit at low tables behind wooden sliding screens and sip cocktails made with exotic fruits, or snack on consulting chef Jonathan Lindenauer’s (Jean Georges, Taj) abbreviated menu. The place ain’t seriously smokin’ yet—they’re still waiting on the hookahs.
