The era of the all-night, cash-only dive bar may rapidly be coming to an end, but a new school of Bushwick watering holes (Birdy’s, Yours Sincerely) are looking to keep that scruffily laid-back vibe alive. The latest is this 45-seat, music-focused project from Cenk Eryaman and Chip Su, the brains behind the longtime music booking agency New Island Entertainment and part-owners of the Shop Brooklyn. Taking its name from a Pavement song, the bar is fitted with leather-topped barstools, vintage light fixtures and a 1976 45rpm AMI jukebox. Tunes are also served up on a curtained stage, which was christened on opening night by local antifolk frontman Brook Pridemore as well as punk outfits Teenage Halloween and Kung Fu Crimewave. Behind the bar, guests can choose from a selection of 10 draft beers, a five-buck Miller High Life–shot special and five house cocktails.
