Taking over the space from Noa, a closed tikki bar, the young Irish owners of Bua (Irish for victory) quickly stripped away the tiki-ness, leaving behind an exposed brick lounge area with a garage door that swings open to let the outdoors in. With freshly stenciled walls and beers like Hefeweisen on tap, it’s not a typical Irish bar, though they do expect to add standard pub grub such as burgers eventually. On the sidewalk, there's a porch with rattan couches, perfect for watching the pedestrian traffic near Tompkins Square Park.
