When you think of art in hotels, you probably envision black-and-white cityscape shots or some odd abstract piece that looks like it was purchased on clearance at Marshalls Home Goods. The Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel may be (low key) the city’s hottest gallery. They just swapped out their David LaChappelle installation for 16 pieces by Andy fucking Warhol.
Hotel bars used to be the hang out spots for traveling salesmen, who are stopping in NYC for the night. But now, some of the most iconic hotels in NYC, have been reclaimed by the locals. Some bars have turned into under-the-radar art galleries, the hottest clubs in NYC and the newest gay bars in the city. New York is calling and it’s time to head back out.
