Instead of fighting thousands of bargain-crazed shoppers today, participate in a more meaningful post-Thanksgiving tradition: StoryCorps holds its third annual National Day of Listening as an alternative to the pandemonium of Black Friday. In keeping with the organization’s mission, the idea is to learn more about a friend or family member by recording their memories. And all you have to do is have a conversation: Use the StoryCorps Question Generator as a guide (questions include “What is your earliest memory?”), or come up with your own queries; once you’ve recorded your chat, upload a summary of it to StoryCorps’s Wall of Listening to share it with the world.
