The rising young Israeli jazz pianist and singer Guy Mintus draws upon Middle Eastern, Eastern European and classic bop traditions to draw connections and comparisons between the work of Great American Songbook masters like George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Dizzy Gillespie and Leonard Bernstein and the songs of Israeli pop artists such as Naomi Shemer, Arik Einstein and Zohar Argov. For the New York stop of his current tour, he is joined by the other two members of his Guy Mintus Trio, bassist Luke Sellick and drummer David Sirkis, plus sax man Tim Ries and vocalist Meital.
