To pay homage to the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, the Maysles Institute presents its second-annual film festival devoted to the history and evolution of gay culture in the heartland of black America. The kickoff at the Museum of the City of New York features director Kirk Shannon-Butts, who will give a talk, followed by a clip of his 2008 film, Blueprint. Afterward, see Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life, a documentary about a 20th-century gay black composer. (See mayslesinstitute.org for location, time and price info for Homo Harlem screenings through June 27.)
