This exhibit examines the public spectacle and its relation to the development of entertainment in New York City. More than 200 artifacts—including posters, photographs and costumes—will be on view, illustrating stories of figures such as John Bill Ricketts, who staged the first circus in New York, and the legendary P. T. Barnum.
